New Zealand`s Waipoua Forest is the largest remaining tract of native forest in Northland. The highway through the forest is a nice drive through towering trees and colourful ferns. This forest is the home of Tane Mahuta, the largest living Kauri tree in the world, and the highlight of the park, located near the northern end of the park. It's also home to several other significant trees or groups of trees nearby, the Four Sisters, Te Matua Ngahere and the Yakas. Overall, a spectacular place to visit and feel dwarfed by nature.
