Private Kiwi Bird Experience from Bay of Islands

Your chance to see a live Kiwi Bird at Kiwi North and explore the historic Bay of Islands and in a luxury, late model Jeep Wrangler or a Mustang GT convertible. On your private 4.5-hour guided tour you will also see historic locations, spectacular waterfalls, panoramic scenery, subtropical rain forests and rural farming areas. You can also extend your tour with a 1-hour option of a visit to the Kawiti Glow Worm Caves. Your tour is adaptable with no fixed schedule, allowing you to stop for photos, ask questions, take your time or relax and talk with your local driver.

    A chance to see the NZ iconic bird that few have experienced as they are flightless, shy, endangered and nocturnal. Kiwi North is part of the national Kiwi recovery program and has a nocturnal enclosure that mimic the kiwis natural environment as closely as possible where they raise young kiwi to breeding age. By attending the 11am Kiwi feeding you maximise the chances of spotting this rare and endearing bird.

    Walk between the ancient and protected kauri trees that used to cover Northland NZ before farming and forestry reduced the forests to less than 2% of their original size

    View the falls as the water plunges over an old basalt lava flow.

    Visit the famous public conveniences in Kawakawa, train town, and get an insight into the reclusive artists last work. You may even see a train running down the middle of the highway if you are lucky.

    On the Cave Option see the glow worms overhead in the pitch black of the Kawiti Caves while on a guided tour with descendants of the Maori chief Kawiti.
